Description |
Joe Hunter, unidentified, Horace Smith, Loomis. Hunter located the Black Bear gold mine in 1888, sold it for $12,000 and bought coffee pots for all the Chinook women. They called him "Chicamun Joe," that is, "Money Joe." He was a Civil War Vet. Note (dated 3/18/16) with photo states unidentifed man is probably Horace Smith's father, Thomas Jefferson Smith, brother of George F. Smith. He is buried in Loomis, d. 1906) |
